HISTORY

Domaine Du Grand Crès is owned and operated by Hervè and his wife Pascaline Leferrer. Hervè spent 25 years as managing director at Domaine de la Romanee - Conti where he formulated his skills in the wine business.

In 1989, Hervè and his wife purchased 12 acres in the hills of Corbieres, right in the center of the Languedoc region of Southern France. The high elevation where the vineyards and winery are located is called Le Grand Crès. The elevation is almost 1700 feet above sea level. High altitude fruit at it's best, deep roots do make a difference. The area is surrounded by scrubbrush and wild garrigues, which intensifies flavors and aroma.

The soils are made up of limestone and clay. For their red wine, they planted Syrah and Grenache and for their whites, Roussane and Viognier. They have recently purchased 6 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon for their every day drinking red. The entire productionis around eight thousand cases that are all estate grown and bottled.

Mr. Leferre's experience at the Domaine de la Romanee - Conti shows itself in the style of his wines, which are some of the most graceful, balanced and if you will, Burgundian styled wines of the Languedoc. New plantings are always going on. The Domaine now has 44 acres under vine.

Proceeds of these wines helps support Boys to Men
